ETD Auditing Manufacturing Processes and Facilities of Wind Turbine Towers and Blades
In February 2024 ETD carried out a wind turbine towers and blades manufacturing process and facility audit in Egypt for a large 500-MWe WT construction project in the Red Sea coastal areas on behalf of a major European utility. ETD team carried out a review of the manufacturing specifications, procedures, and quality records as well as inspection of tower fabrication welding and related inspection and testing processes live at the time.
The above audit followed a similar wind turbine and turbine tower manufacturing process audit in several factory locations of Gold Wind in China during the course of 2023.
Over the years, ETD’s experienced engineers have supported ENGIE’s renewable power expansion efforts in Egypt, including a 262.5 MWe onshore wind power plant built in 2018 by Siemens Gamesa, and a floating offshore wind turbine platform structure manufacturing project.
Such support to power plant construction projects also forms part of the ETD experience in quality surveillance audit inspections to power plant equipment manufacturing for the traditional thermal power plant as well, such as P91 piping spool fabrication and welding.
