ETD Providing RCM Support to Clients Worldwide
Both for the New Build & Existing Plants

Over the course of 2023-2024 ETD has successfully supported two large under-construction combined power and water desalination plants in the Middle East to develop and implement a computerized SAP-PM plant maintenance system for managing maintenance activities post construction. ETD Specialists have worked closely with the European plant owners and future O&M companies on the two Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination plants’ all 6 areas (function locations).
ETD is well positioned to provide further support with the next phase of the project i.e. maintenance and spare part logs and activities of the plants during their operation.
For the initial operation period, ETD adopted a preventative maintenance approach and developed maintenance strategies, equipment by equipment and plant area by area, after the detailed review of plant and process drawings, equipment manuals from manufacturers, and EPC contractors’ instructions. The use of a preventative, as opposed to predictive approach, was to safeguard the equipment warranty conditions in the initial period by adhering to the operation, inspection and maintenance parameters from the plant EPC and equipment OEMs. Typical maintenance strategy data for a given piece of equipment included equipment tag as an ID and a job plan that specifies the scope of inspection, maintenance and repair work, the schedules and the frequencies etc. As a part of the initial operation requirement, ETD’s team developed a strategy of spare parts inventory and stock levels necessary with the project team so as to cover the need of parts replacement and need for the initial period of plant operation.
ETD’s team of experts are also experienced in developing plant maintenance strategies and job plans in other chemical and petrochemical plants, including using a risk-based, predictive maintenance strategy approach to suit the clients’ needs. ETD has a team of experienced project managers and subject matter experts, including SAP specialists that can be available to undertake development and deployment work of the SAP-PM system. In addition, the solution can be extended to any CMMS / inventory optimization system as per client requirements.
Risk based maintenance is an approach that prioritises inspection and maintenance effort according to the likelihood and consequence of equipment failure. As described in our plant maintenance work above, ETD provides risk-based and reliability-centred maintenance strategy development to optimise the safety, availability and cost efficiency of power and process plants.
