GAS/ STEAM TURBINE ROTOR AND PRESSURE VESSEL/ PIPNG/ VALVES ETC. BOAT SAMPLING, INSPECTION, FRACTURE TOUGHNESS/ CRACKING/ CONDITION/ LIFE ASSESSMENT & EXTENSION
For ageing rotors with no available drawings, ETD can provide reverse engineering using advanced laser scanning, enabling accurate determination of stress levels for FE analysis and rotor integrity assessment at critical locations.
In addition, ETD provides Industry-leading advanced root-cause investigation of rotor or pressure vessel (PV)/ piping cracks using our uniquely designed EDSE portable spark-erosion equipment to extract ‘boat’ samples, containing crack tips, from the rotor or PV surface or rotor bore for the analysis of the crack tips and the root cause of cracking.
Furthermore, thin slices/ boat samples from ageing rotors or pressure vessels and piping can be cut out using our EDSE machine and miniature or ultra-miniature tensile, creep, fatigue, Charpy or compact tension test specimens can be machined from these slices/ boat samples for determining the rotor or PV integrity for on-going or future use beyond the design life.
Turbine life assessment determines the remaining safe operating life of ageing gas turbine and steam turbine rotors and pressure vessel components. Building on the boat sampling and EDSE techniques described above, ETD provides rotor and pressure vessel life assessment, creep life assessment and remaining life assessment to support safe operation beyond the original design life
